28th April 2010 - Launch of historic Blackford booklet
A new history of Blackford, produced by Blackford Historical Society and Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust, is to be launched on the 28th April 2010. Published in full colour, the richly illustrated, 36-page booklet is a colourful account of the parish and village from prehistory to modern times.Exploring themes such as the 19th century industries of “boots and beer”, the arrival of the railway, and the Legend of Blackford, the booklet will also reveal the important prehistoric and medieval archaeology to be found in the area.

1st February 2010 - New Photograph Gallery Another photograph gallery, Gallery 4, has been added to the website. This gallery contains 36 images including many old postcards of Blackford and the surrounding area. We would welcome any comments or additional information relating to each photograph to help us complete our records.
26th October 2009 - New Photograph Gallery Another photograph gallery, Gallery 3, has been added to the website. This gallery contains 44 images including many class photographs from Blackford Primary School. We would welcome any comments or additional information relating to each photograph to help us complete our records.
10th October 2009 - New Brewery Article A new article on Thomson's Blackford Brewery has been added and can be found on the Breweries feature page. The Society gratefully acknowledges the kind permission of the Scottish Brewing Archive to reproduce this article.
28th September 2009 - Events Programme for 2009-10 Published The Society is pleased to announce publication of its events programme for the forthcoming session that runs from September 2009 to May 2010. As always, there is a varied and very interesting selection of talks and presentations that should appeal to everyone. New members are encouraged to join the Society for its first meeting on 28th September. More details on the programme can be found by clicking here.
19th June 2009 - Blackford Parish Church Anniversary A highly successful garden party was held at Blackford Parish Church to celebrate the church's 150th anniversary. The Historical Society organised an exhibition of old photographs and maps inside the church and this proved to be a strong talking point for guests. Click on the image for more details....
26th March 2009 - Highland Spring contribute to Historic Blackford Booklet
The Society is pleased to announce that Highland Spring have also confirmed funding towards the booklet about the village's history. Members will be working over the next year to compile information and produce the booklet. Booklets will be available for purchase in 2010 through this website.
9th March 2009 - Historic Blackford Booklet
Blackford Historical Society has been awarded funding from the Big Lottery Awards for All and from Perth and Kinross Council to produce a booklet about the village's history in conjunction with Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust. Members will be working over the next year to pull together information and produce the booklet. Booklets will be available for purchase in 2010 through this website.
A further selection of old photographs from the Society's archive has been uploaded to the website - go to the "Old Photographs" page for more details. The Society is very keen to hear from anyone with further information about the photographs and to add further photographs or postcards to its collection.
