AA signs and milestones were removed in 1939 as part of World War 2 security measures.Two other AA mileage signs in Blackford:
1.On tree by bank at end of old bowling green indicating 4?? Miles to London.
On Donaldson’s fence – small cottage near station, indicated 2?? Miles to John O’Groats.Donaldson, the signalman was a great market gardener and kept the village supplied with vegetables.
